Bodhichitta is believed to be a holy tree according to Buddhism. In Sanskrit language, the word Bodhi means enlightment whereas Chitta means soul or mind. Thus, together “Bodhichitta” signifies “Mind of Enlightment”. This Bodhichitta tree produces the Bodhichitta fruits annually in April and is harvested in August. These Bodhichitta seeds are grown in some limited places in India, China, Bhutan Bangladesh but as per Dalai Lama, the seeds grown in Nepal are of the best quality. In Nepal, the Bodhichitta seeds are mostly harvested in Kavrepalanchowk Temal area. Bodhi beads are threaded to make rosaries which are used to count mantras.
