Handmade Rectangular Hay Sukul

This is a typical traditional carpet from Newar community of Nepal also called as "Sukul" in Nepali made up of the hay or also called "Paral" in Nepali.  It is usually used in the parties and functions also called "Bhoj" or "Na-kha-tya" in Newari, where a mass number of people gathers and food is distributed by cooks to all the people. It is generally rolled and stored for reusing next time. Since it is made by hay locally, it is cheap, effective and biodegradable as well. It is also said that walking in sukul also increases blood circulation to your legs and feet.
