Kamala Quality Pashmina is a sole-owner manufacturing company started in 1989 A.D with a vision to export the finest pashmina to the international market primarily to the USA, Japan, and the European countries. From the outset, the company used local raw materials for manufacturing pashmina items. By the year 1995 A.D., most of the pashmina manufacturer were importing all their materials from China as the demand for the fine Chinese yarn was skyrocketing and Nepal lacked the technology to produce yarn on par with the Chinese products. However, with the beginning of new millennia, the market was flooded with the cheap low-grade Chinese yarn that degraded the quality of the products which eventually crashed the pashmina industry.

 From the early 2000s through to 2012 A.D. following the unfortunate and debilitating crash, the company was dormant as it struggled to survive– it was doing nominal transactions due to low-quality raw materials available in the market. To overcome this problem company came up with a new strategy: export genuine Nepali Chyangra pashmina and yak wool i.e. collect local raw materials, process, and manufacture in-house, and export reliable high-quality products. The company now directly collects the Chyangra and yak wool from the mountainous regions of Nepal and manufactures authentic high-grade Chyangra pashmina and yak wool products in the latest raw-wool-processing plant. Nonetheless, the company has not forsaken traditional manufacturing (like hand-spinning, handwoven, etc), design techniques, and practices for the production of these products.

Previously, the company was registered under the Small and Cottage Industry office, Kathmandu. However, Due to the increment of the working capital as well as its working area, the company is now registered under Company Registration Office, Kathmandu (Registered in 2018 A.D.).

The company is taking all the responsibilities of disseminating information to the Changrya & Yak farmers; educating them about the true value and importance of pashmina & yak wool; preserving, collecting, and purchasing raw wool; processing that raw wool to make soft and fine pashmina & yak yarn; manufacturing pure Nepali Pashmina and yak products; and exporting them to the international market.
